Experiencing Springdale’s Galleries

There are some amazingly talented people in this world, and in case you didn’t already know it, some of them live right here in southern Utah, specifically Springdale.

Springdale is a small town with big heart and even bigger talent. The residents there basically live in art with Zion Canyon wrapping its arms around the town, so it’s no wonder that great artists choose to call Springdale home.

When you take a moment to rest from all the hiking in Zion, make your way over to one of the many art galleries in Springdale. Who knows, you may just find that perfect piece to represent your time in southern Utah.
I made my way to four great galleries the other day and compiled a breakdown of them for you. Here’s a few reasons why you should visit each one of these beautiful galleries.

David J. West Gallery

If photography is your cup of tea then David’s gallery is the spot! This gallery is comprised mostly of landscape shots with a few wildlife shots sprinkled in there. David has partnered with a potter named Bill Campbell to offer some beautiful pots, plates and a variety of other clay pieces in his gallery as well. David has really refined his studio to display his art in an amazing way. Just walking through the gallery is a visual treat. Don’t hold me accountable when you find yourself buying some of the great photos there. You fell in love with it all on your own!

LaFave Gallery

LaFave is simply a class-act gallery. Beautiful displays, tons of natural lighting and a picky selection of artists make this gallery a treasure to experience. Each artist was carefully selected for their skill in their chosen medium but that doesn’t mean there is limited options. They have 40 artists represented there.

Worthington

Worthington has one of the oldest and richest histories for Springdale galleries. Established 36 years ago, Worthington was a potter’s house and a workshop before that. The specialty here is definitely pottery, and they’ve got it in spades. With 35 local and regional artists represented, you’re sure to find the perfect southwestern piece. Keep on the lookout for a pottery school soon to be opened up here. The school will be dedicated to famous Zion artist Jim Jones.

De Zion Gallery

A more homey feel and a wide selection of mediums to choose from is the best way I could describe De Zion Gallery. They have some very unique types of art you won’t find in the other galleries, like 3D paintings incorporating stones as well as some native obsidian tools. If you want to see something new and different, this is the place to find it.
