The DiFiore Center Community Drum Circle, with Djibril Näó»Doye, is a spiritual, communal, or therapeutic music experience in which participants join together in a circle with drums. The drum circle, in the context of how we are using it within our nonprofessional hand drumming culture, is the most basic and simple use of the drum and rhythm. These circles are used to reduce stress, anxiety and blood pressure, to increase immune system function, and to create a sense of community. Our community drum circle is noisy, fun, and a family friendly event, where people come together each month in order to share their spirit by entraining rhythmically as a percussion ensemble. They empower each other in the act of celebrating community and life through rhythm and music. People of all levels of musical expertise can come together and everyone who comes to participates has something to offer the circle, and any and all are welcome.
