The Southern Utah Heritage Choir will welcome pianist, Brandon Lee, and vocalist, McKenzie Lee for the annual Flag Day Concert on Friday, June 8th at 7:30 pm in the Cox Auditorium. This thrilling concert will be a wonderful tribute to our veterans, our flag, and our country! Mayor Jon Pike will make a guest appearance during this concert!
The Choir is excited to collaborate once again with Brandon Lee, pianist extraordinaire, as he tickles the ivories throughout the concert, and collaborates with his wife, McKenzie, performing favorite Broadway tunes, spirituals and patriotic favorites. Brandon and McKenzie will perform “The Girl in 14G,” “Les Misérables Medley,” and will collaborate with the Choir on “Homeward Bound,” and “Savior, Redeemer of My Soul.” The Choir will also perform “God Bless America,” “Give Me Your Tired, Your Poor,” “America, the Beautiful,” “On Jordan’s Stormy Banks,” and “Joshua Fit de Battle of Jericho.” The Choir will close the concert with the rousing “Salute to the Armed Forces,” and the timeless classic, “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
Brandon Lee, an award-winning concert pianist and wife, McKenzie, a seasoned vocalist and performer, will bring to the stage a variety of heartfelt and inspiring music of all styles. Brandon is a graduate of Utah State University with a master’s degree in Piano performance. He has soloed with multiple orchestras including the Gold Country Chamber Orchestra, San Juan Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Symphony Orchestra and the Utah Symphony Orchestra. He has worked with other artists such as Audra McDonald. He has won first place in over forty state, regional and national piano competitions. Brandon is on the faculties of Dixie State University, Tuacahn High School for the Performing Arts, Vista Charter School and has a thriving piano studio in St. George, Utah.
McKenzie is a graduate of Southern Utah University with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. She taught for four years at Red Mountain Elementary and started an after-school musical theater program with over 100 participants. She has starred in multiple roles including; the Narrator in “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, Zaneeta in “The Music Man”, Wendy in “Peter Pan”, Annie in “Annie” and performed professionally in “Twist the Night Away” for three years with the Bumbleberry theater while they toured various states including Tennessee. She has also performed on the North and South islands of New Zealand with a performing group called “The Polkadots.” McKenzie has been doing comedy theater for the past four years in featured roles with The Rattlin’ D Playhouse. Brandon and McKenzie have performed in various concerts and events and, most recently, as guest artists with the American Festival Chorus and Orchestra under the direction of Dr. Craig Jessop. They have been happily married for almost three years and love being parents to their little Milo!!
Come join us for the Flag Day Concert on Friday, June 8th at 7:30 p.m. in the Cox Auditorium. Tickets are $15 and are available from any choir member or at the Cox Auditorium Box Office. Veterans will be admitted free of charge.
