An epic historical romance film based on Margaret Mitchell’s 1936 novel. This wonderful film takes place back in the time of the American Civil War in 1861.
Scarlett O’Hara lives on her family’s cotton plantation in Georgia, with her sisters and parents. She learns that Ashley Wilkes whom she has a secret love for is about to be engaged to her cousin Melanie Hamilton. The engagement is to be announced at Melanie’s house the next day. Scarlett shows up to the party while still in mourning of her husbands Charles death. Her mother thought the party might cheer her up. While all along she can only think about her love for Ashley as he is about to be engaged to her cousin.
Did you know that Baby Boy Wilkes was played by our very own Patrick Curtis that lives right here in St. George. Release of the film came out on September 9th, 1939. Sadly Sidney Howard died before the premiere of the film in a farm tractor accident. He was 48 years old at the time of his death.
