Center Lecture Series –

November 9, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

- $7

Lecture by Ron Smith,
Astronomers have made an incredible discovery. All the light we observe in the cosmos, as well as all the galaxies we observe, make up only about 4% of the energy/matter of the universe. About 73% of the universe is “dark energy,” which causes our universe to expand at an accelerating rate. Another 23% is dark matter, which provides a “gravitational glue” to hold galaxies, as well as clusters of galaxies, together.

Ron Smith, retired astronomy professor and planetarium lecturer, will tell the story of how astronomers feel confident that our universe mainly consists of matter we cannot see and energy we cannot directly observe.

You won’t want to miss this cosmic detective story about one of the most compelling mysteries of our time.
