ST. GEORGE, UT äóñ The Roene B. DiFiore Center for Arts and Education will welcome the local community and guests to a special open house/fundraiser on May 12, 2017. Themed äóìHats Off to the Arts,äó the afternoon event will celebrate the fifth anniversary of the artistic and educational resource center, housed in the historic Orval Hafen Home in St. George.
The May 12 event will feature a special concert by southern Utah-based electric cello duo, Rosin. Comprised of cellists Daniel Gaisford and Jessika Soli, Rosin is one of the most accomplished and popular acts on todayäó»s music scene. The pair performs original transcriptions of pop and rock, as well as a classical and romantic repertoire. Gaisford, whose work has been hailed by the New York Times as äóìtransfixing,äó and by the Philadelphia Inquirer as äóìremarkable,äó has performed as a soloist throughout the U.S. and Canada, and has been a featured guest at festivals around the globe. Frequently invited to appear on radio shows nationally, Gaisfordäó»s performances can be heard on NPRäó»s äóìPerformance todayäó series. Just prior to the DiFiore Center concert, Gaisford will appear in concert at New Yorkäó»s venerable Carnegie Hall. Solis, a concert cellist and private instructor from Santa Clara, UT, was formerly the principle cellist with the Southwest Symphony. She currently performs with the Empryean Sring Quartet, appearing frequently in concerts across southern Utah.
From 3 to 5 p.m. the public is invited to enjoy punch and cookies and view the äóìArt in the Gardenäó exhibit, with the concert to follow at 8 p.m. The cost is $15.00 per person for the concert only; VIP seating is available at $25.00 per person. Prior to the concert there will be a private, invitation-only reception, featuring appetizers, drinks, and a meet-and-greet with Rosin.
